i couldn't take a picture of the last Tokyo Friday because i stupidly forgot to carry my camera.

we went to see akie and her old friends's exhibition.i bought a lovely brooch.

and then,we enjoyed sweets and talked a lot same as usual.

anna is in Hong Kong now,and i am in Tokyo.we have got new pleasure to exchange letters.

JAM printing exhibition

JAM printing is very nice company. i hear they start bookbinding by sewing machine.it was not beautiful but charming just like their printing.

i bought many books and goods there,but i forgot to buy the colourful fathers with wide stomach bands(はらまき) made by tupera tupera. it is regrettable.

今週は robaroba cafe で　JAM printing の　てんじ　を　見に行きました。　JAM　は　大阪にある　の　印刷屋　です。　ちょっと　レトロ　かんじ　が　あるし　とても　安いし　たくさん　デザイナーたち　は　JAM printing　を　使います。　 robaroba cafe　も　たくさん　おもしろい　本　が　あります。　あそこ　で　私　の　お財布　が　空きました！

のぶこちゃん　と　あきさん　は　私　の　スタジオ　を　見たかった　から　今週　は　私のうち　で　会いました。　　私　は　本棚　から　二人　が　たぶん　面白　本　を　えらんだ　けど　二人は　日本語　テキスト　を　読みたかった．びくりしました。
ニューヨーク　の友達　の　アナ　パウラさん　の　作品　も　面白かった。　かなじょ　は　ブラジル　から　ニューヨーク　に　すんでいる　の　ブークバインダ　です。　　ブログも　あります　よ！

luckily for Anna,she had two japanese teachers this time.

Aki and i were also lucky to have Anna's delicious sandwich.

besides,we really enjoyed everything in her studio.it was like a treasure box.

we were especially fascinated with the handmade books made by Tara books in India.they seem to have big letterpress machine.letterpress in India......i'm curious.

伸子ちゃん　は　いつも　いい　てんじ、　いい　お店　を　えらんでいる　から　ときどき　ピキ伸子　で　よびます。　本当に　毎週　ピキ伸子ちゃん　の　ピク　を　見に行く　の　は　すごい　ラキ　アナ　です。　
今週は本やさんで　この　本　を　みつけました。　地図　も　子供の絵本　も　好き　だから　この　カバ　は　いいなあ　と　思いました。

we had a nice lunch on tatami in the Japanese style restaurant,but i was concerned about Anna's legs were too long to sit on tatami.besides,they used not table but tray with legs(zen),that's too low for my tall friend......

and then,we went the exhibition of Norichika Kitamura in Waseda. we met him kappan dekoboko festival.

the exhibition title was skirt,so i went there putting on the skirt,but Anna wore culottes.

i was so impressed by this exhibition.i realized the subtle beauty of silhouette again becauce of his works.the place was also interesting.the gallery was once used as book binder's factory according to him.actually,there was a lift in Lift.

レストラン　で　かとりせんこ　の　によい　が　ある　と　前年　の　東京　夏　の　思いで　が　ついて　います。　　いい　なあ。。。
おいし　ごはん　を　たべった　あと　で　のりちか　きたむらーさん　の　てんじ　見に行きました。　てんじ　の　ちかく　で　製本　の　店　が　多い　と　いろいろな　じょうたい　の　紙　が　みえました。　　
きたむらーさん　の　てんじ　は　とても　面白かった。　かれ　の　作品　は　すごい　quietな　かんじ　が　あります。　　私たち　は　見た　と　ゆっくり　に　なりました。

one day in Kappabashi

Anna and her friend Emma are both interested in food samples,so we went to the shop Maiduru in Kappabashi about 2 weeks ago.

i did not know much about food sample. Anna said she got to know about it by the film "Tokyo-ga" directed by Wim Wenders.i thought Sushi-Dokei is kind of crazy.Who use that clock??? but according to their website,it is good seller.

anyway,we enjoyed real croque-monsieur in Itonowa after we enjoyed imitation foods.

二週間　ぐらい　大学　の　時　の　ともだち　が　オーストラリア　から　とまりに来た。　エッマちゃん　は　日本語　を　わからない　から　二回　英語　で　はなしました。　よかった　ね！　　ちょっと　休んだ　と　日本語　ちょっと　わすれたんです。。。
エッマちゃん　は　存在　と　じじつ　の　もんだい　が　面白い　の　artist　です。　作品　は　「本当　か　本当みたい　かなあ」どういう　かんじ　だ　から　先週　は　フード　サンプル　店　に　いきました。　本当見たい　たべもの　を　見た　あと　で　本当　の　サンドウィチ　を　たべました。　
今週　は　エッマちゃん　と　あきえちゃん　と　のぶこちゃん　の　うち　で　いしょに　晩ご飯　を　たべました。　　のぶこちゃん　は　りょうりする　も　上手　です。　私　は　どうやって　そんなに　おいし　おみそしる　を　作るか　どうか　わからない　から　のぶこ先生　と　あきえ先生　も　おしえました。　　出し　に　よって　よ。　　
帰った　時　は電車の中で　ぐうぜん　に　もりおかさん　会った　と　かれ　は　まる一日　バナナ　を　一本　しか　たべません　でした。　　本当！？

五人で　あきさん　の　うち　で　紙はんが　を　ならいました。　すごい　おもしろかった　です！　　あきさん、　ありがとうございました！　

かみはんが　は　idea　から　はんが　まで　はやい　です。　experiment　で　とても　いい　テクニク　だ　と　思います。　　のぶこさん　の　写真　で　みな　が　ちがった　はんが　を　見えます。

Kamihanga in Chiba

Anna and i had Kamihanga workshop by the great Kami-hanga artist Aki.we met her in the dekoboko festival.Kami-hang is one of a style of print. cut paper,apply ink to it and print by a pressing machine.it looks simple technique but Kamihanga works is so lovely.

i was sure i will fail if i prepare some drawings because i am so awkward at handwork.i was not confident of cutting paper as same as i intended,so i tried to cut improvidently.naturally my work became kind of abstract.

i was inspired by other's works. Kamihanga was so much fan! i want to try it again.

we had the last meeting about our project "colour full" at art+eat where we had the first meeting about 4 months ago.

they had very big table.it is very convenient for meeting.we counted our sales in the dekoboko festival and went to have dinner near there.

this week nobuko and i are busy getting ready for the kappan deco boco letterpress festival which is on during golden week. (info in english here). we don't have time to spend learning foreign languages!!

we'll be holding a stall together with akie and we've got stacks of good, colourful things.

we had the meeting for our new book at Sakamura(antique shop/cafe) in Nishiazabu.

it was long meeting. we talked with each other more than 3 hours and enjoyed delicious scone made by cicoute-bakery in turn.we love sweets,as well as books.

今週　あきえちゃん　が　旅行　から　返りました。　アメリカ　に　行った　hedi kyle　(book artist) を　合いました。三人で　活版　フェスタ　の用に　本　を　作るから　三人で　かいぎ　を　しました。　　のぶこちゃん　は　スコン　を　てべた　と　おいしらしから　私も　おなじ　を　ちゅうんもん　しました。　あと　時差ぼけな　あきえちゃん　が　つった　と　おいしそうから　スコン　を　ちゅうもんしました。。。

we went to gallery FUURO to see the exhibition of Yaoita Katsunori.

his ceramics seem to acquire beauty with age,but actually they are not antique. we were surprised to find a cobweb inside his work which looked like old barn.

our friend Akie made his book. we felt it simple and elegant.

の　にわ　の　鯉　を　みながら　のぶこちゃん　を　まって　いった、　お年老いり　は　私に　鯉についての　いろいろ　を　おしえました。　すごし　しか　わからなかったけど　おもしろかったです。

Ryoji Arai's happy world

We went to Setagaya Bungakukan.We enjoyed the exhibition of Ryoji Arai.

I was deeply affected by his chaotic world.It looked cheerful and happy. I wish I could live there!

I bought his budge(button?) in the museum shop.I will put on the budge in order to be more easygoing.

elegant parasols and tough grandmothers

Both of us were fascinated with beautiful parasols made by Iida Kasaten.

We came to like same pattern.Unfortunately,the color was same,blue.We tried it in turn and talked about which of us should buy,but neither anna nor I bought it after all.We might have given way to each other.

Next,we went Shashin Bijutsukan(the museum of photography)called Syabi.

"My Grandmothers" is the project which visualize young women's ideal herself 50 years later. All these fictional grandmothers looked difficult to deal with,but they seemed to have absolute independent mind.That's why I like them. I am interested in their young days.

今　limart annex で　きれいな　日傘　が　売っています。　オーストラリア　や　アメリカ　では　日傘　つかうの人　が　すくない　けど　日本で　は　夏に日傘つかうの女の人　がおいです。　女ぶり　と　じつようてき　です。　　私たち　が　毎ばん　あいて　しめて　して見ました。傘　は　うしろ　から　見るから　して見にくい！　　あと tokyo metropolitan museum of photography　で　やなぎみわさん　の　マイ　グランドマサース　てんじ　を　みました。　毎写真と　いっしょに　むかしばなし　みたいな　はなし　が　ありました。　本当に　力　が　つよい　おとしより　イメギ　でした。　この　写真　は　limart annex から。

playing golf in the museum

We went to the Watarium museum.I was inspired with the exhibition of Michihiro Shimabuku.

"How do you accept something you don't understand?" A German woman sings Japanese song without understanding. She looks like she is enjoying it. I came to want to sing with her. The song is "Yogiriyo Konyamo Arigatou". (If I translate it, "Oh! night fog,thank you tonight ,too".....? I am not sure. Anyway,this is very famous love song.)

"Doing something you didn't plan to do" was also good experience. I have never thought I play golf in my life, but I did it in the museum. It gave me fresh feeling.

Lastly,we saw elephant's hips on the roof. It didn't make sense to me,but I became kind of happy.

今週は　watarium museum で　しまぶくさん　の　てんじ　見ました。　すごくおもしろかったです。　やる　つもりなかったこと　を　やってみましょう　の　installation 作品　で　わたしたち　はゴルフ　を　してみました！　　しまぶくさん　は　やさい屋さん　で　うっている　の　artist book 　を　しました。　　みかん　と　アート　を　いっしょに　買う　のは　いい　と思います。　accepting things you don't understand の　ビデオ　も　好く　でした。　ビデオ　で　どいつ人　が　わからないの　日本　の　うた　を　うたいました。

We met at Kagure in Harajuku.

They sell stylish organic cotton clothing.

We saw the exhibition "a cup of tea" on the 2nd floor.

I sometimes had uncomfortable feeling in Harajuku because there are so many fashionable young guys, but I felt relaxed in the shop.Interior design was also good. I appreciated Japanese craftsmanship.

I was very impressed with his paintings. The strong colours and strange shapes made me cheerful and they sometimes gave a chuckle.

I bought a his book and enjoyed the world of happy nonsence.

第一回日本語でブログをかきますけど。。。

今日はつまらないらしいくてグレーなビルの上におもいがくない色を見ました。　sompo museum で　元永さん　の　てんじ　でした。　　色がすごい　つよかった。　　作品は本当にじぶん　の　ひかりみたい　でした。　元永さん　も　たくさん　きれいな　えほん　を　しました。　　えらびにくい　けど　ひとつ　（いちまい？）　買いました。　　色　いきてる！
